Allen R. Oakes, age 76, of Syracuse, NY passed peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024. Allen, a decorated Vietnam Veteran was awarded both the Silver Star and a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for outstanding gallantry in combat.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; his 1st wife, Carol and their two daughters, Jennifer and Suzanne; two stepchildren, Kelley Lawler and Richard Nolan, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, many nieces, nephews, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and his beloved pets. He was predeceased by his stepson, Patrick Nolan.

A celebration of Allen’s life will be at held Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse, NY at 11:00 a.m., May 4, 2024. Friends can greet the family from 10-11 before the service. He will be interred at Crown Hill Columbarium Annex, Field of Valor, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Allen’s memory.
