John A. “Spike” Zbikowski, 88, of Syracuse, died on April 3, 2024 at his home. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s & St. Charles’ Church and a graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School. He had retired after 35 years from NY Telephone/Verizon. He and his wife had long enjoyed ballroom dancing. For a time they sang in the choir at St. Vincent's church. John was an avid bowler and a former King of the Hill and Herald Masters finalist. He was active in the PACC and its fishermen’s club. He also formerly coached CYO Basketball, little league baseball, and junior bowling. He stayed in touch with high school classmates throughout his life. John is predeceased by his wife, Anne, who died in 2020, his parents Stanley and Bertha Jarmac Zbikowski, and siblings Stella, Joseph, Ann, Jane, Sophie, and Helen. He is survived by his sons: John M., Dan (Dione), and Stephen; grandchildren: Matthew and Nicholas; brother Edward; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9-10 in church before the mass.
