Marie Jeanette Pontius Obituary
Marie Jeanette “Jan” Pontius, 91, Syracuse died at home surrounded by her children on March 4, 2024. Jeanette worked for the City of Syracuse as a Secretary. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of the Legion of Mary.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard Jay Pontius and son Charles “Chuck”.
She is survived by sons: Richard (Kathy), Bob, John (Betsy), Jim, Peter (Missy); daughters: Karen (Vince) Filapello, Michelle (Tom) Brewster, Ruth (Pat) Thompson; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30am in St Vincent dePaul Church. Burial will be at 1pm in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.
