Shirley Jean Amlott Obituary

Shirley Jean (Close) Amlott, 79, died on January 20, 2024 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. She had resided with her husband and children for many years on North Collingwood Ave in Eastwood then at their retirement home in Smyrna, NY and spent the winters at their home in Brooksville, Florida. Shirley was a former cook for 32 years for Queens Court and Kelli Jo diners in Syracuse, NY and retiring from American Food and Vending at New Process Gear where she served as Union Steward for Restaurant and Hotel Workers. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, The Eagles in Brooksville, Florida, and the American Legion in Sylvan Beach, New York. She was an avid bowler and traveled with her husband to many locations but she truly loved her many trips to Hawaii but when at home in New York she spent much time in Lake George. Her time with her family and friends was her favorite, especially the cookouts.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward John Amlott; daughters: Florence (Michael) Pikulinski, Dawn (John) Kelly; son: Edward George (Lorie) Amlott; grandchildren: Tim, Joshua, Christina, Jordan, Michael, Stephanie, Joanna; great grandchildren: Damian, Johnathan, Aria, Jaxson, Julian; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11am at the Welter-Price Funeral Home with burial to follow in White Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 3-6pm at the funeral home.
