Gloria N. Gerhardt, 85, of Syracuse, died on December 28, 2023, at Van Duyn. She was a very active, fun-loving caring person devoted to her family. Because of her son Chris who is mentally handicapped She started out as a volunteer teacher assistant with ARC in 1970 which then led to her employment as an Executive Personnel Assistant at ARC for 25 years. Gloria was also a co-founder of Boy Scout Troop# 326 which was one of the first Boy Scout Troops established for mentally handicapped boys in the Syracuse area. She was also a volunteer for the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure for several years. She was also extremely proud and supportive of her oldest son Clifford who is a retired Air Force veteran.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Frederick who died in 1992. Always devoted to him, she remained a widow for 31 years.
She is survived by her sons Clifford and Christopher of Syracuse, a sister Dawn DeVaul of Moravia, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:30 at the Welter-Price Funeral Home with burial to follow in White Chapel Cemetery.  Calling hours are 10-11:30 before the service at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
