Edward F. DeSocio, 89, of Syracuse, died on October 21, 2023. Mr. DeSocio had retired from the Syracuse City Water Department and was formerly employed by D.W. Winkleman Construction as a superintendent. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and earned the National Defense Service Award. He was a charter member of the Brigadier’s Drum & Bugle Corps in the 1950’s as well as a founder of the Brigadier alumni association. Mr. DeSocio was a first lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
His wife Judith and son Andrew are pre-deceased.
He is survived by a daughter Linda (Brian) Whitcomb; a son Edward (Keith); a sister Dolores Basile; grandchildren: Emma Whitcomb, Nicolas DeSocio; great-grandchildren: Alaina, Aubrey and Landen Whitcomb; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday in the Chapel of the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James St. Online condolences, www.shepardsonfh.com.
