Barry F. Schlereth Obituary

Barry F. Schlereth, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, at Crouse Hospital after a brief illness.

Barry was born on December 26, 1959, in Syracuse, NY to the late Viola M. (Boyden) Schlereth and Fritz H. Schlereth. Barry was a 1978 graduate of Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY, a 1982 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY and a 1987 graduate of Syracuse University. While at Clarkson, Barry was a member of the Tau Delta Kappa Fraternity. After graduation he worked at General Electric on sonar defense projects and doing grant work at Syracuse University on many software engineering projects. Barry became deaf as an adult andused his software and programming skills to develop products that helped the deaf community by translating speech into text.

Barry was a long-time resident of Syracuse, NY. His hobbies included an interest in investing where he developed several programs for short term stock trading for the ‘TradersWeb’ company. He also enjoyed biking along the Erie Canal and could also be seen biking around ‘Barry Park’ right next to his home.

Barry is survived by his father, Fritz H. Schlereth of Syracuse; sister Lori (Schlereth) Campoli of Raleigh, NC; nephews Brian A. Campoli of New York, NY; and Jake Campoli of Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services will be private.
