Please share a memory of Claire to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Claire Elizabeth Bloss (nee Brady), 80, of Syracuse, died on Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Mrs. Bloss was a native of Norristown, PA and graduated in 1950 from Most Holy Rosary, Syracuse. She relocated to Syracuse from Pennsylvania when Carrier established headquarters in Syracuse in 1938, and lived with her Aunt Alice and Uncle James Brady, with her father and sister Janet and their sons Tom and Jimmy, after the death of her Mother in 1939. She had worked at Carrier Corporation from 1950-55 and Chappell's Dept. Store from 1970-1989. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of Altar and Rosary Society. She had volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital and was a Camp Fire Girl leader. As an avid sports fan, Mrs. Bloss particularly liked Syracuse University sports, which she followed through the media, and also followed the exploits of her family. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Claire lived her entire life gracefully, lovingly and devout. Her openness and joy for life was a great example for all who are left to show these qualities in their own daily lives, always in her memory. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, James M. Bloss; her children: Michael (Patricia) of Clifton Park, NY, John (Lisa Sardinia) of Portland, OR, Barbara Hulbert (Joseph) of Rochester, Peter (Ann) of Marlton, NJ, Thomas (Nancy) of Ithaca; grandchildren: Mariclare Hulbert, Peter Hulbert, Erin Hulbert, Kathleen Bloss, Allison Bloss, Kevin Bloss, James Bloss, Joseph Bloss, Nicholas Bloss, Jennifer Jackson; great-grandchildren: Hayley and Daniel Jackson; brother Donald (Marylou) Brady of Conshohocken, PA, Thomas Brady of North Syracuse, James (Josie) Brady of Baldwinsville, and sister-in-law Jeanette O'Brien of Syracuse. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Emma Brady, brothers Joseph and Norbert Brady and sister Janet Brill. The family would like to thank the staff of the Emergency Department and Catheterization Lab of Crouse Hospital for their caring and professionalism and her Cardiologist, Dr. Joseph Battaglia, for many years of dedicated support and caring. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Onondaga County Veteran Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7pm and on Tuesday from 9-10am at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse 13208.
