Obituary of Gerard J. Zutant

The son of a Pennsylvania coal miner, a man of faith and integrity, Gerard “Gerry” Zutant, died on June17th, he was 80.  Born in Carbondale, PA, his parents were John and Mary Zutant. Although an excellent golfer and having taught golf for 10 years at EPIC, his true love of sports actually began at St. Lucy’s as an outstanding member of the All Parochial Basketball League. After attending CCBI, he was employed at Bristol Labs until his joining the Reid Insurance Co. He later partnered with Roger Reid and formed the Reid and Zutant Insurance Agency.  He is a past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of CNY and served on the advisory council for the National Grange Mutual Insurance Co.  He worked with youth in Junior Achievement and Little League.  He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of its golf league and Folk Choir in the past. 
Surviving to mourn his loss are his children: Debra and Gary Zutant; siblings: Dennis Zutant (Diane), Lorayne Fitzgerald, El Nora Pagano; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to Food Bank of CNY 7066 Interstate Island Road, Syracuse, NY 13209.  A memorial mass will be held on August 17, 2023 at 10:30am in Blessed Sacrament Church.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 before the mass in church.  Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
