Maria DeRose Obituary

Maria DeRose, 84, of Syracuse, died on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Iroquois Nursing Home.  She was a native of Italy and came to the United States as a teenager.  She finished high school in America and became a US Citizen in 1961.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and was a “Jack of all Trades” and could fix anything.

She was pre-deceased by her parents: Pietro and Josephine Micciancio; a son Louis DeRose and a brother Carmen Micciancio;. 

She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Louis L. DeRose; son Peter; daughters: Tina DeRose, Rosemary Beshures; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum.  Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
