Lisa (Altman) Sampson, a beloved teacher at Salem Hyde Elementary School, passed away on March 28th, 2023, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 53 years old.

Born on March 8th, 1970, in Syracuse, Lisa was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary Jane Altman. She attended Syracuse City Schools and went on to graduate from SUNY Cortland, where she earned a degree in Education.

She is survived by her husband: David; daughter: Taylor Jean; sons: Ryan and Samuel 9((; brothers: Norman (Mary-Rose), John (Nona), Steven, and David (Pam); sisters: Linda (Mike) and Paula (Chuck); sister-in-law Cindy Altman and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Jim Altman, who welcomed her home.

Lisa was a kind and loving woman, who touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and warm smile. Lisa had a passion for teaching, and she dedicated her life to educating young minds at Salem Hyde Elementary School. She was known for her patience, creativity, and her ability to connect with her students. Lisa made a difference in the lives of countless children, and her impact will be felt for years to come.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and reading. She was a kind and generous person, who always put the needs of others before her own.

Lisa will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through the lives of her family, friends, colleagues, and the countless students whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, Lisa Sampson, you will be forever loved and missed.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 10 am in the Eastwood Baptist Church with a Memorial service at 12 pm. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice or to TeamLisa.
