Tommy Rizzo, 81, died on April 1, 2023 at the FASNY Firemen's Home in Hudson, NY, where he spent his last nine years as a resident, experiencing great camaraderie with his brotherhood of Volunteer Firefighters. Tom often said it was the best place for him to be. He even admitted he should've gone sooner!
While growing up in Lyncourt, Tom was an avid follower of Syracuse Basketball, the Syracuse Chiefs and the NY Yankees. He was previously employed with Syracuse China and Killian. Fire Police Tom was dedicated to the Lyncourt F. D., with over fifty years of volunteering, continuous brotherhood and never ending support. Tom's most favorite memories were of Inlet Camp Life spent with his parents, brother and uncles, especially "Uncle Sam".
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Catherine Charima Rizzo, his younger brother, John, and the deceased members of his Firehouse. Tom leaves behind his Rizzo and Charima cousins, living members of his Firehouse/their families, "Ma" Wolpink and family, Schaffer neighbors and the FASNY Firemen's Home caring staff and friends. Tom will be missed.
Tom was honored with his "Last Call" and laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery. A memorial Mass is scheduled at Transfiguration Church, 740 Teall Ave in Syracuse on April 15th at 10:30. Contributions in Tom's memory can be made to Lyncourt Fire Department, 2909 Court St, Syracuse, NY 13208.
