Carolyn J. Schultz Obituary
Carolyn J. Schultz, 78, of Syracuse, died peacefully on Sunday, March 12 at her home. Carolyn was born in Camillus and was the eldest child of Horace B. Drake Jr. and Lela A. Beardsley. Carolyn retired from LeMoyne College after 22 years of service in the infirmary where she developed friendships with many students and co-workers. In retirement, Carolyn served as the financial secretary at James Street United Methodist Church. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family at their camp on Oneida Lake and attending many of her grandchildren’s activities. There is no doubt her greatest passion was her seven grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her sister Linda Purdy. Carolyn and Linda enjoyed a friendship that went well beyond sisterhood and that bond can now be reunited.
Her family includes her husband of 58 years, Richard C. Schultz; her three sons: Richard (Donna) of Syracuse, Brian (Kathy) of Cicero, and Ronald (Shena) of Marcellus; the pride and joy of her life, her grandchildren: Sarah, Benjamin, Makenna, Nathan, Haven, Nora and Emma; brother Roderick Drake of North Carolina, nieces and nephews Valerie, Jason, Jamie, Nicole and Ryan and many loving cousins.
Services will be held at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street on Saturday, March 18 at 10:30 AM with burial following at St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt.
