Gloria Markinson, 92, daughter of Alfred Sorrendino and Angeline DiZinno, of Fairmount, New York passed away at St. Camillus Nursing Home Wednesday January 11, 2023 peacefully with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Michael A. Markinson, sister, May (Sorrendino) Lobos, brother, Carl Sorrendino, sister, Lee (Sorrendino) Spadaro. She is survived by her son Gary (Theresa) Markinson, grandson Michael J. (Kimberly) Markinson, granddaughter Trisha Markinson, several nieces and nephews as well as her sister and roommate at St. Camillus Nursing Home, Maryann Anthony. Gloria was blessed to be able to share a room with her sister once again for the last year of her life. Gloria loved to laugh and always had a smile on her face! Gloria was a communicant of Holy Family Church for over 50 years. She loved to golf and even got a hole in one in her league at the Westhill Golf course back in the day! Gloria was also a long time member of the Fairmount Garden Club and was especially proud of her red roses that she grew at her home. She worked for the New York Telephone Company and later, Sears and Roebuck. Gloria’s family would like to thank the caring people of PACE of CNY and especially the kind and compassionate nurses and staff on the first floor C Unit at St. Camillus Nursing Home.

On Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 the funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr. Syracuse, NY 13219. Burial to follow at the Veterans Cemetary 4069 Howlett Hill Rd, Syracuse, NY 13215. Calling hours will be 4-7pm on Tuesday January 17th, 2023 at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home 3111 James st. Syracuse, NY 13206.
