Thomas C. Hale of The Villages, Florida, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 26th. He was 73 years old.
Tom, born on March 11, 1949, grew up in Syracuse, NY the son of Lucille and Clarence Hale Jr. Tom attended Christian Brothers Academy, Class of 1967, where he was active in a variety of sports and held roles in the student council and as a class officer all of his four years. After high school, Tom went on to earn an Associates degree at Onondaga Community College before graduating from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. Shortly after graduation from UB, Tom began a long and successful career in sales and account management at Phillips-Van Heusen. Tom eventually moved from menswear into sportswear, with memorable stops at Adidas and Reebok. His family will always fondly remember being treated to Tom’s generosity with an unending stream of sneakers, workout outfits and many other gifts from his trunk/closet. Outside of work, Tom had a passion for music, food and watching sports, particularly anything involving Syracuse University athletics. He was a wonderful spirit who cared deeply about his lifelong relationships with his friends and extended family.
Tom is survived by his brother Dan Hale, his sister-in-law, Janice Hale, his nieces Megan Akin and Shannon Chisholm, his nephew Josh Hale, his ex-wife Jeremy Hale, his step daughter Catherine Bye and her son, Remy, his step sons Jason Bye and Jeremy Bye and ten ‘grand’ nieces and nephews Claire, Cameron, Jack, Charlie, Genna, Eliza, Michael, Lucy, Riley and Ella.
Memorial services for Tom will take place at St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale, NY on Saturday, November 19th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests a donation to the CBA Athletic Department in Tom’s name.
