Obituary of Cynthia A. Sokolic

Cynthia A. Sokolic, 54, of East Syracuse, passed away at home April 22, under Hospice care with her family by her side after a long battle with Endometrial Cancer. She was born on February 7, 1959 in Solvay. Her parents were Dominick Peter Meccarielli and Ann (Latocha) Meccarielli. She was a 1981 graduate of Lemoyne College, and a graduate of Solvay HS in 1977. Cynthia had worked at the NY State Department of Labor as a Career Advisor which she truly enjoyed. Prior to that she was in the IT industry for over twenty years. She is a communicant and former religious education teacher at Blessed Sacrament Church. Her father & mother Dominick & Ann along with a brother Dominick Jr. have pre-deceased her. Mrs. Sokolic's family includes her husband Steven John Sokolic, Jr.; daughter Morgan; 2 brothers: Bob (Ann) Meccarielli of Lawrenceville, GA, Richard (Deb) Meccarielli of Tysons Corners, VA; 2 sisters: Elaine (Owen) Hill of Winston Salem, NC, Alisa (Joe) Leo of Elbridge, NY; and several special nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews. We would also like to thank her Dr., Dr. Jeffery Kirschner, Maggie Sitnik and the staff at Hemotology-Oncology, Crouse Hospital 4 South and Memorial-Sloane Kettering for their supportive help and understanding. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5-8pm in Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James Street. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Hematology-Oncology Associates of CNY.
