It is with deep sadness that we announce Kristie Sue Burns (65) passed away Monday May 2nd at Francis House with family by her side. Kristie was born in North Hollywood, California on August 4, 1956. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley. She was predeceased by her parents Carmelita Corrado and Jack Haller, and her two sisters Judy Marchese (Bob) and Bonnie Biede (Roger). Kristie is survived by her husband Kenneth Frederick, her children Kayliane Autumn, Phylicia Noel, and Blaise Winter, future daughter Rachel Gawell, several west coast family members, and four grandchildren Jayden May Burns, Jace Donald Button, Kylie Dawn Hartman, and Carter Mason Burns. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, Reseda, CA majoring in early childhood education and was employed by the Los Angeles School District as a teaching assistant. She also attended Pierce College, Woodland Hills, CA majoring in Business Education. Her passion and interests in photography and her love of children led her to a studio manager role for an international company that offered her a traveling position which brought her to Central New York. Kristie’s work included manager and sales for Hawley Studio Photography, American Greetings representative, Jenny Craig sales consultant, Camping World sales consultant and receptionist, and running a character children’s birthday party business from her home. She was a member of St Marks Episcopal Church. Her volunteer passions included chairing church events, teaching primary Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School, church nursery caretaker, assistant director of a Girl Scout camp, and co-leader of a Girl Scout troop. She loved attending family camping festivals, chaired church carnival events, and loved attending youth weekend retreats. Kristie enjoyed camping along Lake Ontario, traveling, gardening, SU Football, NASCAR, and raising dwarf bunnies as a hobby. Kristie’s family and friends will miss her honesty, sensitivity, sense of humor and loving expressions, and her strong love and commitment to children and animals. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Francis House and/or Helping Hounds Animal Rescue. There are no calling hours. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later time. Funeral arrangements are through Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson, 3111 James Street.
