Obituary of Catherine M. Fitzgibbons

Catherine M. Fitzgibbons, 80, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday. She was born in Syracuse the daughter of John and Marjorie (Shea) McKeever, Catherine's life was lovingly devoted to her family. She is pre-deceased by her parents and brother Dr. John (Pat) McKeever. She was a graduate of Marywood College and employed at Niagara Mohawk where she met her husband, William, before staying home to raise her children. She later worked at Blessed Sacrament Church as the Director of Religious Education until retiring in 1999 to care for her granddaughter. Cathy always had a great love for life. She and her husband enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 54 years together. They traveled frequently to Maine and enjoyed winters in Florida. She was active in her parish and lived out her faith each day. Cathy brought love and great joy to countless people, particularly her friends and family. Survived by her husband William J. Fitzgibbons; her children: Mary Jude Klee, Jim Fitzgibbons, Patti Fitzgibbons; Granddaughters: Lauren Klee and Meghan Fitzgibbons; sister-in-law Eleanor McKeever of Westboro, MA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express gratitude to the CNY Dialysis Center, St. Joseph's Hospitals 3-1 Unit and Hospice of CNY. Calling hours will be from 4-7 on Friday April 12 at Goddard - Crandall, Shepardson Funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00am on Saturday, April 13 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery In lieu of flowers we kindly request contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
