Obituary of Henry M. Zajac

Henry Zajac, age 88, of Liverpool, was born in Fulton, N.Y. to John and Mary Zajac. He was a highly decorated WWII veteran, having been a member of the 101st Airborne Division. Mr. Zajac participated in numerous campaigns including the invasion of Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, Belgium, and Central Germany. He was a recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge with four battle stars, and the Purple Heart. He retired from the General Electric Corp. after 35 years, serving as Quality Control Supervisor in the TV division. He was a member of Transfiguration Church and DAV Chapter #8. Mr. Zajac was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren who will remember his great kindness, sage advice, and sense of humor. Survivors: wife Jane Zajac; son Richard, N. Syracuse; daughter Patricia (Robert) Panels, Virginia Beach, Va; grandchildren Brian (Lynn) of Camillus, Eric (Bekka) N. Syracuse, Sandra, Liverpool, Jennifer (Chris) Whitley, and Dan Panels, Virginia Beach, Va; great grandchildren Brynn and Cameron, Camillus, Braedon, N. Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Friday at 9am at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9:30 in Transfiguration Church. Burial is in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-6pm at the funeral home, 3111 James St. Contributions may be made to Transfiguration Church.
