JoAnn F. Mura, 78, passed away peacefully after a long battle of Cancer on August 18, 2021. JoAnn was born in Syracuse on May 14, 1943 to the late Josephine Skillo and Joseph Collura. She graduated from St. Vincent Depaul School. She worked in the operating room as a technician at Memorial Hospital. She retired from the Syracuse City School District after 20 years. She retired and moved to Dunnellon, Florida in 2013 with her husband. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and volunteered at the parish luncheons. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and especially her great granddaughter, Melina. Her favorite hobby was playing mahjong with her friends as a member of the women’s club of Dunnellon Florida and Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, traveling, and had a special place in her heart for animals. JoAnn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, and cousin. She will be missed beyond measure. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years Richard F. Mura; daughter Kim Mura; sons Doug (Deena Capria) Mura; Scott (Caryn Coleman) Mura; sister Edith Collura; grandson William Sampson; great granddaughter Melina Sampson; and her mother Melody Sosa. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and staff of Brittonfield Oncology Associates of Syracuse, Ocala Oncology, Advent Hospital of Ocala, and Cate’s Hospice House of Ocala for the great care she received. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 1 from 3pm-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30am in Blessed Sacrament Church.
