Therese Heins

Obituary of Therese M. Heins

Therese M. Heins, 63, of Syracuse, passed on June 23, 2021 at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her daughters. She was most recently employed by Bishop Rehab and Nursing Center as an LPN. She was a collector of people. She loved her family, friends, residents and colleagues. She was a free spirit and loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, baking and taking the time to notice simple moments of beauty in the world. She so easily defined the meaning of life as not about being rich, popular, highly educated, or perfect...but about being real, humble and strong and had a gift of leaving a positive impact wherever she went. She was predeceased by her parents: Paul and Ruth Heins; her brother Fred Heins; and sisters MaryLou Lasnicki, Ann Heins and Ruth Ann Haws (George). She was survived by her daughters: Kriea Arie (Amanda), Tracy Gardiner (Matt), Kasha Parrish (Michael); Siblings: Paul Heins (Agnes), Pat Heins, Christa Kilmartin (James), John Heins (Margaret), Cheryl Litcher (John), James Heins; Brother in law: Sam Lasnicki; Ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 30th at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Calling hours are Tuesday June 29th from 4-7 pm at The Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. Additionally, a memorial bench is set to be installed at The Rosamond Gifford Zoo near the flamingos. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park, where she volunteered. We would also like to recognize and thank nurses everywhere. Especially the ones at Crouse hospital. You are all amazing, and your kindness will not be forgotten.
