Obituary of Magdaline B. Koch

Magdaline Clara Byrne Koch, 98, a life time resident of Eastwood, died on Monday, June 21, 2021. She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Eastwood High School. She had formerly worked at Woolworths, during WWII worked at Hoffman Company in Eastwood, and worked as a Lunch Lady at Huntington Elementary. She was a former Cub Scouts Den Mother. Magdaline was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and was a funeral luncheon volunteer. She was also a Life Member of Eastwood American Legion Post 1276 and Past Commander of the Auxiliary. Her life passion was BINGO and she enjoyed fishing and spending time with family & friends at Camp on Oneida Lake. Her travels included a trip to Ireland and going on cruises. Magdaline maintained her independent lifestyle by owning, maintaining & driving her own car, even at 98! She was predeceased by her husband Carl; parents: Joseph & Laura Rowe Byrne; sisters: Elaine & Marlene and brother Joseph. She is survived by her children: Carl & Bette, Bill & Diane; grandchildren: Doug, Brian & Ben and a great grandson: Nathan. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 on Friday in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. Contributions may be made to Meals-on-Wheels.
