Sonya A. LaBella, 73, of Syracuse, died on Tuesday at Upstate University Hospital. She was a native of Syracuse and a graduate of Nottingham High School. She had retired from Bristol Laboratories as a Quality Control Inspector. Sonnie was very active at Blessed Sacrament Church and served as president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed helping others, cooking, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Joseph; 2 sons: Joseph A. of Merritt Island, FL, Dr. John J. of Wexford, PA; 3 daughters: Dr. Lori Jean Mosca of Tenafly, NJ, Diane Marie Maloney of Alpharetta, GA, Mary Ann Badger of West Chazy, NY; a brother: Wallace Philips of Lake Luzerne, NY; brother-in-law Angelo LaBella of Syracuse; sisters-in-law Fatima Mirra of Liverpool, Jacqueline Philips of Lake Luzurene; 10 grandchildren and a large loving extended family. She was pre-deceased by her sister Sandra Farsaci. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9am in the Blessed Sacrament Church with burial in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6-9pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church Outreach Program, 3127 James Street, Syracuse 13206.
