Obituary of Joanne Harrington

Joanne Schlacter Harrington passed away at Brookdale in Manlius three days shy of her 92nd birthday.  Joanne was born in Syracuse NY where she attended and, in 1950, graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School. She met and married her husband John J. Harrington in the neighborhood where they both grew up. John and Joanne raised their children in St. Vincent de Paul parish.  Later, Joanne and John took joy in spending time with their grandchildren and staying at the cottage John built on Pillar Point on Lake Ontario. Joanne spent many hours enjoying the lake view, completing crossword puzzles, and watching her and her husband’s favorite nightly game shows in the company of their dogs:  Max, Gretchen, and Cagney.
Joanne was predeceased by her mother, Anne Schlacter; her aunt, Betty Cosser; her granddaughter, Kimberly Harrington; and, after 61 years of marriage, her husband, John Harrington, who passed away in 2014.
Joanne is survived by her children Debra Harrington Merryweather of Syracuse, John Michael (Karen) Harrington of Redmond WA, Timothy John (Julie) Harrington of Syracuse, and Sheila Marie Harrington of Jamesville. Other survivors include grandchildren Danielle Harrington of Redmond WA, Derek (Amanda) Harrington of Syracuse, Lukas (Erin)Harrington of Syracuse, and two great-granddaughters: Everly Rose Harrington and Rory Soleil Harrington, both of Syracuse.
Joanne is also survived by extended family in the area.  She had three grand-pets: Callie, Faegen, and Muffy.

Joanne’s children thank the staff at Brookdale in Manlius for taking concerned care of their mother, especially during these last few weeks.
At Joanne’s request, there will be no services.
