Obituary of Josephine Bovenzi Benedetto

Josephine Bovenzi  Benedetto, 102, passed away peacefully in the  presence of her family on Sunday at Francis House.  Josephine was born in Syracuse, the daughter of Michael Angelo and Rosa U. (Matarazzo) Bovenzi  on September 17, 1916.
Josephine was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She enjoyed a good, long and fulfilled life which included traveling with her husband and family members  to various places in the states as well as Italy and Israel. She enjoyed bowling, quilting knitting, going to the casino , watching the Yankees and hosting Sunday dinners for her family.
She retired from Gaylord Brothers in 1981.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Severino M. Benedetto in 1994 after 54 years of marriage and her sisters: Rose, Anna, Mary, Elizabeth and Clara; brothers: Joseph, Peter and Angelo; and granddaughter in marriage Shannon Johnson Snyder.
Josephine is survived by her children Patricia (William) Snyder of Saratoga Springs, Frank (Michele) Benedetto of West Deptford, NJ and Michele (Peter) Barbagallo of Jamesville, who she lived with for the past 13 years; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 10am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  Family will receive friends and family  from 9 to 10 at the church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the loving and compassionate staff and volunteers at Francis House who loved and cared for our mom with great affection.
