Obituary of Frederick R. Sylvester

Frederick R.Sylvester, 97, formerly of Whitwell Drive, Syracuse died on Tuesday at Bishop Nursing Center.   He was born on November 18, 1921 in Akron, Ohio and his parents were Fred and Florence Walwrath Sylvester. Fred retired after 40 years from Conrail in 1982 and is a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.  He is pre-deceased by his wife Anna who died in 1987, brother Jack Sylvester, sisters Delores Checkosky and Mary Carmen and his dear friend of many years Sue Fenton. He is survived by his four sons: Jim (Linda) of Jacksonville FL, Bill (Linda) of Taylorsville NC, 
Tom (Karen) of Rush NY,  Dan of Victoria British Columbia, brother Bob (Joanne) of Syracuse, 
8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Friday from 10:30-11:30 at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Hone with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be sent to Hospice of CNY. Those wishing to send an on-line condolence may do so at www.shepardsonfh.com.
