Obituary of George Kenneth Weidman

December 22, 2018 

George Kenneth "Ken" Weidman, 92, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday December 22nd, 2018. Ken was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, a graduate of Eastwood High School and a member of the first graduating class of LeMoyne College in 1951. He also served in the United States Navy. 
Ken worked as sales representative for several companies through the years including Best Foods, Genesee Beer and retired in 1984 after 15 years with Consolidated Freightways as an account executive. 
Ken was an avid golfer and one of the "Founding Fathers" of the Eastwood Golf League formed in 1947. He was also a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Syracuse and a member of the American Legion General Pulaski Post #1650. 
Ken was predeceased by hIs parents; George F. and Gertrude C. Weidman, his first wife Laura  (Peg) Grant Weidman and his second wife June Smith Weidman. He is survived by his son Christopher G. Weidman of East Syracuse, step-daughters Linda Gladle of West Monroe, NY, Patricia Shattell of Liverpool, NY, and Sandra Herse Sponable of Redfield, NY. He is also survived by a niece Elsie Grant Mowins of Phoenix, NY, and a handful of cousins. 
The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to his personal home aide Lorraine Elieff, Dr. Louis Bonavita, Dr. Russell Silverman, St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Joseph's Home Care and Menorah Park for the care and compassion Ken received during his past year of declining health. 
Funeral services are Saturday at 9:30 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Calling hours are Friday from 3-6pm at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
