My father was my best friend...not much more needs to be said. Though it is sad to lose him physically, he will always be in the hearts and souls of those who knew him. We all knew he cared more about helping other people than he did about himself. He was a great inspiration to everyone he met and he never failed to make people laugh and smile. He could tell the same joke or story over and over and those of us who knew what punch line was coming...he STILL made us chuckle. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and more recently GREAT-grandfather! The older I got the smarter he became...which speaks of the many lessons in life he passed on to his family and friends. He taught me the game of baseball from the perspective of a fan, a coach and an umpire. Some of our best times were when we shared coaching together some truly great local athletes. As fanatic Yankee fans, we shared our April birthday gifts last year in Yankee stadium the day Derek Jeter's # 2 jersey was retired (courtesy of my wonderful sister!) I could ramble on for hours but I'm just happy he has returned to his job of bugging my mother...this time in God's kitchen. He will be missed and always loved and we were lucky to have had him as long as we did. Rest in peace Pops and send some mojo to beat those Red Sox!
