Eileen G. (Geremia) Piraino, 85, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly Sunday at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Eileen, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Geremia, was born in Syracuse and graduated from Eastwood High School in 1950. She worked as a secretary for the Onondaga County Maternal and Child Health Department before her retirement. She also worked with the Onondaga County Board of Elections.  
Eileen was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Eileen was an avid bowler with her late husband, Robert, and she served as a secretary/treasurer for a number of leagues at the Eastwood Sports Center and Bowl Mor Lanes. She was named Secretary of the Year by the Syracuse Bowling Association in 2007. In 1999, Eileen worked during the American Bowling Congress Championship at the Oncenter.
Eileen volunteered with Eastwood Little League and the American Cancer Society. 
Eileen enjoyed visits to the casino, watching game shows on TV and baking specialty cakes and Italian cookies for weddings and special occasions.  She found much happiness spending time with her granddaughters, Marlise and Dayna, and her great-grandson, Dylan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Sr., and parents, Joseph and Lucy Geremia.
Eileen is survived by a son, Robert Jr. (Mary Frances); a daughter, Karen; brothers Frank Geremia, of Napa, Ca., and Joseph Geremia (Jenny), of Venice, Fla.; two granddaughters, Marlise (Kyle) Burton, and Dayna Piraino (Justin McKain); a great-grandson, Dylan Burton; an aunt, Louise DeMartino; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Cassano (Mike), Josephine Piraino, Sheila Piraino; a brother-in-law Joseph Piraino (Pam) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. A private burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Downs Senior Living and Retirement Community and the nurses and staff on the 7th and 4th floor at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
