Emma Strutz, 95, of Alexandria Bay, died Wednesday at the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay. Mrs. Strutz, Pam to her friends, was a homemaker, mother, wife, and friend to many. She was a war bride having married her husband Donald (predeceased in 2008) in England in 1945. She was born in the English town of Derby in 1921 and still has a brother, George, and sister, Betty, and many relatives there. . She spent many years in food service working with the local grade school and later with Syracuse University. She lived in Mattydale, Skaneateles, Elbridge, and finally Alexandria Bay. She is survived by her brother George Hoon and sister Betty Flint of Derby, England, her daughters Donna Pomeroy of Elbridge, NY, and Pamela (Jim) Carr of Alexandria Bay, NY, son Michael Strutz (Connie Smith) of Hague, NY, grandchildren Tyler Smith-Strutz, Tracey Pomeroy, step-grandchildren, Jennifer and James Carr Jr., a great-grandson Alex Pomeroy, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin with visiting hours from 9:00 am to 10:30 am on Monday January 9 at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home, 1217 North Salina Street. A service will start at 10:30 am. Burial service at the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Borodino Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1820 Route 174, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
