Aniela "Angie" Sember passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center on August 3, 2016 just shy of her 95th birthday. ”God has taken her home.” She was born in Lukowa, Poland on August 25, 1921 and emigrated from Germany to United States in 1951 with her family to start a new life. She retired from the Syracuse City School District in l985, where she was primarily employed at Grant Jr. High and Franklin Elementary School. She was devoted to her family always making sure there was always enough to “eat”. Family and friends especially enjoyed her golumkies and kapusta. She loved animals, especially dogs, enjoyed bingo, playing slots and card games with her family. Among her many talents was sewing, crocheting, knitting and making Christmas ornaments. She loved the church and attended church faithfully until her health declined. In her younger years, she was active in church functions. She was a communicant of Transfiguration Church . She was predeceased by her parents and brother in Poland: son, Edward in l987 and husband, Boleslaw (Bill) in l999. Survived by her daughter, Jane (Gary) Warren of Baldwinsville; son, Joseph Sember, Syracuse; grandson, Joseph Jr. of N. Carolina; granddaughter, Amber Sember Fritzen (Bruce), Solvay and great granddaughters, Aileen Jane and Chloe. Special thanks and much appreciation to the staff on A-South at James Square and her new friends at the facility in her last few months. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Transfiguration Church, 740 Teall Ave., Syracuse, 13206. Burial will be private. Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James St., Syracuse is in charge of arrangements.
