Obituary of Jeffrey M. Hale

Jeffrey Mark Hale, age 60, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Jeff was a beloved member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. He had worshipped and served there for over 20 years. He was also a 38 year member of L’Arche Syracuse. Jeffrey had great enjoyment in swimming events in the Special Olympics and in the many trips he took with L’Arche Syracuse. He had a lot of fun taking cooking classes with his friend Helen and his long time participation in bowling. While he was able he and his family enjoyed his visits during the summer and for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as an assistant with the Camillus Police Department. During his last months Jeff was cared for by his loving family at L’Arche and received care and support from Hospice of CNY. Jeff was predeceased by his mother Agnes Stuck Hale, his father Gordon D. Hale, and his sister Virginia Hale Nykaza. He is survived by his sister Margot Hale Laible, Denton, TX, his brother Timothy G. Hale (Linda), Denver, NC and by several loving nieces and nephews. Jeff’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the loving care and many great experiences L’Arche Syracuse provided for Jeffrey over the last 38 years and to Hospice of CNY for their support and care during his final months. Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Monday, July 11th at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home at 3111 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13206. A mass in celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 12th at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 432 Gifford Street, Syracuse, NY 13204. There will be a reception immediately following the mass at the L’Arche home, 140 Highland Avenue, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to L’Arche Syracuse in Jeff’s memory.
