Obituary of Marija G. Tanaskoska

Marija Gligorovska Tanaskoska May 24, 2016 Marija G. Tanaskoska, of Syracuse, passed away at home Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the age of 79, surrounded by her family. Marija was born in Bitola, Macedonia and immigrated to Port Kembla, NSW, Australia with her husband and three children in 1968. Marija moved to the US with her family in 1972. She was employed by Jos. J. Pietrafesa as a seamstress until her retirement in 2000. Marija’s life was devoted to her family. She was a giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Marija was predeceased by her parents Velo and Paca Gligorovski; her siblings: Milica (Pando) Kusovski, Vangel (Bona) Gligorovski, Hristina (Stavre) Boskovski; and a brother-in-law Jone (Menka) Kocarevski. Marija is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tome Tanaskoski; daughters Vicki Tanaskoska of Syracuse, Karmen (Jim) Roller of Bridgeport; son Chris Tanaskoski of Syracuse. Cherished by her five grandchildren: Christian, Robert, Lauren, Kimberly and Christopher. Also, survived by her sibling Slavka (Milan) Cakovski of Australia, Slobodanka (Dimce) Sterjovska; sister in law, Bitola, Macedonia, Kosta (K) Kocarevski of Australia. Several nieces and nephews from Syracuse, Austrailia and Macedonia that Marija kept very close to her heart. Marija was a communicant of St. George Macedonian Eastern Orthodox Church. Marija taught others by example in the value of hard work, good judgment, courage and integrity. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grand children. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, many dear friends and all who knew her. Services: 9:00 am Friday at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardon Funeral Home and 10:00 am at St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4-7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home Inc., 3111 James Street, Syracuse, 13206 with trisagion prayer service at 6:30 pm.
