Clarence H. Wink, Jr, 90, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Crouse Hospital. Clarence was born on October 22, 1925 in Providence RI and was raised in Providence and Westerly RI. He volunteered for the service in 1943 and was a proud US Marine Corps veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII aboard the USS Pasadena. He was present in Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender and helped his unit receive 8 Battle Stars. After the war, Mr. Wink married the love of his life, Frances and began working for Corenco in Somerville MA. He, Fran and family moved to Syracuse in 1959 when Clarence became the superintendent of the Syracuse Corenco Rendering Plant before taking a job as a maintenance supervisor with New Process Gear and retired from there. He was a longtime resident of Eastwood, a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the American Legion Eastwood Post 1276. He is preceded in death by Frances (2005) and is survived by brother-in-law Robert (Crystal) Wadsworth of Coeur d'Alene ID, sons Larry (Bonnie) of Bridgeport, Thomas (Linda) of Minoa, Jim (Jennifer) of San Diego; grandchildren Larry Jr. (Casey) of Baldwinsville, T.J. (Cindy) of Syracuse, Mike (Gigi) of Superior CO, Traci (J.W.) Fletcher of Huntersville NC, Tara (Robert) Newton of Raleigh NC, Tami (Kevin) Schabel of Romeo MI, Jacob and Joshua of San Diego CA and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held on Monday at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse 13208.
