To Ray's family: he touched more hearts with his smile and kindness than you will ever know. Never complaining although he had more reason than most. He will be missed.

To all of Ray's family,
I'm sure you know how loved Ray was by so many people. His friendship was enjoyed by all who met him, as were all of his stories that he loved to share. We're all saddened by his passing, but assured that the Lord that he has served faithfully all his life has greeted him in heaven with wide open arms. Peace to you all.

I knew Ray for 50 years, ever since my family joined Trinity in 1966. He was a fixture at the church, and it won't be the same without him. It was an honor to know him. He was always welcoming and smiling. He always remembered my name, even if I had been delinquent and not attended church for awhile. He always had interesting stories to tell. His deep faith was an inspiration. My hope is to someday have even a fraction of his faith and perseverance. Mr. Ray, I will miss you, but I'm happy you are finally pain free and in the presence of your Lord.

It was our pleasure to have been blessed with Ray as a neighbor. He was the sweetest man, always smiling, quick with a story of his youth. We have missed him these last few months and are deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Our prayers are with all his family and friends. We know Ray is in Heaven, smiling down from one of his walks.

Dear Ray in care of family, we will miss you very much. Best brass polisher ever. Your care to the church and to the members will not be forgotten. As a child I remember you greeting me every Sunday, and then when I had my own children they were greeted by you as well. Dear Ray, may you find in heaven all that you have given your life to. You were loved and we will dearly miss you.

Dear Family members
With sadness and in faith my wife Nancy and I are surprised to read of Ray's death, and send you our condolences and assurance of prayers. May the faith Ray had in the resurrection of the dead and the life to come sustain you as you grieve and give you peace , comfort and hope. I look forward to seeing Ray again without the results of polio being evident. One of the ways he lived out his faith is that he was a strong supporter of whoever was his pastor, one of whom was me. As well he supported seminarians from all over the country, some of whom are now ordained. Eternal rest grant him O Lord, and may perpetual light shine on him.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved friend and brother in Christ. At the same time I am thrilled that "Mr. Ray" is in the presence of the Lord he loved so much. I so enjoyed taking him to Wednesday evening bible study and loved to hear his stories of faith and his life experiences. He was a walking history book and he was such a blessing to us all at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Trinity was his life's work and passion, second only to Jesus. I am saddened that Trinity was not afforded the honor of conducting a funeral service for him, nor of being informed when he passed. We will honor him though in our thoughts, prayers, and fond memories. I have no doubt that there was much joy in heaven when our "Mr. Ray" entered God's presence. So long our brother and friend!!! Till we meet again.
