Mary G. Cerio, 104, died on Saturday at Elderwood of Liverpool. She was a native of Bristol, RI and resided in Syracuse for most of her life. She had retired in 1973 from the Congel Dress Shop and was a self-employed seamstress. Mrs. Cerio was a communicant of Assumption Church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed after 104 years. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Elderwood for their caring, compassion, and love. She was pre-deceased by husband Michael who died in 1984 and her granddaughter Renee Dillon. She is survived by her daughters: Mary Anne (George) Klamm of Clay, Joanne (Henry) Isabell of North Syracuse; her son Nicholas (Linda) Cerio of Cicero; a sister-in-law Camille Grosso of Cicero; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 at the Welter-Price Funeral Home and at 11am in Assumption Church, with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 9-10:30 at the funeral home, 3111 James Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
