Loso Kiteti Boya (Anicet Jacques), 83, passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2026 in Bologna, Italy, his home for the past six years. He was born in Pindi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the late Lucie Mubwanga Kamumbwe. Loso first came to the United States as a student on a USAID scholarship to attend Syracuse University where he obtained an MBA and met fellow student, Mary Josephine Ilacqua, who would become his wife of fifty-three years.

He later obtained an MPH at Johns Hopkins University and worked for the World Bank in Washington, D.C. for 25 years. He retired from the Bank in order to pursue entrepreneurial activities, to travel, and to enjoy family life. Loso devoted much of his life to writing about and advocating for his beloved Congo, with a view to improving the material conditions of everyday people’s lives.

Surviving are his wife Mary Jo; his sister Wivine Sanga; his brothers Gaspard Ngituka, Anselme Kingombo, and Roger Kingombo; his daughters Christine Sanga and Odette Mitumba; his granddaughters Nicole Makemba Marie and Antonia Ngemba Lucie;  and many other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8, at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St., Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Condolences shepardsonfh.com.
