Janet Dickson Freeman passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Francis House after a brief illness.  She was predeceased by her parents, William C. and Jean E. (Kellogg) Dickson, her sister, Nancy Dickson, and her husband, Daniel Freeman.  She is survived by her sister, Carol Dickson Taylor, and her step-children, Danita Freeman-Wynn (Elson), Daniel Freeman Jr., Joi Freeman, Jason Freeman, and Chad Anderson.  She is also survived by a number of cousins and many dear friends.  

Janet graduated from East-Syracuse Minoa Central High School and Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked as a nurse her entire career, most recently at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  In retirement, she worked as a volunteer for a number of organizations, including Hope for Bereaved.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 3pm at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.  Private burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, Janet asked that anyone wishing to donate should consider giving to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue online at helpinghoundsdogrescue.org or by mail at 7268 Caswell St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
