Mary L. Barber 100 years cute, passed peacefully at home July 23, 2026.

She was a delightful lady and will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.  She lived a long healthy full life with a great personality and sweet disposition.  

Mary loved life and her family and friends.  She worked at Syracuse University in the offices of The College of Visual and Performing Arts.  She was a beautiful seamstress who created for her family and at one time sewed professionally for dressmaker Leslie Fay and then an interior decorator/events planner. Mary loved SU basketball and the New York Yankees and spent every moment she could on the deck and enjoying the fresh air. She was an excellent cook and baker, she always said “food is love”. She volunteered at the Blessed Sacrament Pantry for 21 years.

Mary is survived by her son Matt Barber and grandson Nathan Barber; daughter Celeste Barber and grandson Michael Piraino; and Darlene Lostumbo a “daughter from another mother”. Extended family who loved her dearly included Jay Piraino, MaryJean Piraino-Karnya and her husband Ron, Rose and Tim Townsend and Anthony and Clara Neutts, “the worlds best neighbors”.

Visitation will be at Blessed Sacrament Church, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 9:30-10:30am with Mass following at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Blessed Sacrament Pantry, 3127 James St Syracuse NY 13206.
