Phyllis (Bloshinski) Dopkowski, 95, died on March 23, 2026 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was originally of Shickshinny and Plymouth, PA and a resident of Syracuse for over 70 years.

She was the Organist and Choir Director at Transfiguration Church for 50 Years, past President of Transfiguration Church Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Altar-Rosary Society and Pastoral Council and Bookkeeper for 15 Years. She was also a Leader of the Girl Scout Troop at Transfiguration School and a Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pulaski Post #1650. 

Phyllis Retired in 1996 after 20 Years with the City of Syracuse in the Department of Assessment.

With her husband, John, they formed the John Dopkowski Polka Band; appearing at Syracuse City Parks, New York State Fair and various places in the area. A Fan Club was formed at the Belvedere Restaurant in Lakeland. Following John's Death, the Band carried on as Phyllis and the Boys Polka Band, retiring in 1979.

She was pre-deceased by her husband John; granddaughter, Leigh Ann; parents: William and Blanche Bloshinski; and a brother Paul.

Survived by: son Raymond, daughter Theresa (Robert) Piatkowski, son Michael "Mickey" (pre-deceased wife Valerie); grandsons: John, Joseph, Michael (Erin), Christopher Dopkowski and Stephen Piatkowski; great granddaughter Evyn; 1 nephew; and 5 nieces of Plymouth, PA.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 10am in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Church with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Friends can greet the family from 9-10am Saturday in the church. Condolences, www.shepardsonfh.com.
