Beatriz Kutusow, known to all who knew her and loved her as "Melita" or "La Meli" passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Syracuse, NY, accompanied by her son. She was born on July 16, 1933, in Viña del Mar, Chile and emigrated to the US in 1972. She was 92. Of small frame at only 5’2", she was a born leader, a ferocious protector and defender of family and friends and a devout Catholic who actively gave to multiple charities throughout her life. She raised several cats which she always named either Cookie or Tom, followed by a number to indicate their place in her cat history. Gifted with a prodigius green thumb, her home was always filled with lush plants of all kinds. Donations in her name may be made to any charity of choice such as Food for the Poor, St. Jude’s Hospital, ASPCA. She is survived by her son Dimitri and a large retinue of family in Chile and Europe.
