Norbert A. Spiegel, Jr., 99, of Eastwood passed away on August 4, 2025. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Norbert, Sr. and Marguerite Schiller Spiegel. Norb was a 1944 graduate of Vocational High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in England with the 94th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. As a Ball Turret Gunner he received the Air Medal for flights over Europe. He returned home to run the 3rd generation Spiegel Food Store on Danforth Street on the north side with his father and brother John Spiegel, closing the store in 1972. He had worked for Green Hills Farms and Nichols Supermarket in the deli. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and chair caning, also loving the family cats.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John Spiegel. He is survived by his wife Carol (Simmons) Spiegel; children from his first marriage son James (Tricia) Spiegel; daughters: Mary Pat (Paul) Spiegel, Betsy (Gene) Spiegel, and Joanne (Michael) Carolan; 5 grandchildren: Patrick, Thomas, Kate, Meghan, and Kelly; three great grandchildren, Ellie, Jo Jo and Thomas Spiegel; several nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be held at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13 from 5-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 9am on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
