John Michael “Mike” Harrington, 70, passed away at Evergreen Health in Kirkland, Washington, on May 26, 2025 with his wife and daughter at his side. John Michael was born in Syracuse on December 19, 1954.  He attended St. Vincent de Paul School; Bishop Grimes High School; and SUNY Buffalo.  After graduation, John moved to Houston, Texas where he met and married his wife, Karen.  John and Karen eventually settled in Redmond, Washington where they raised their daughters Kim and Danielle.

John enjoyed hiking, cycling, and walking in nature with his family; he also took many extended backpacking trips with friends, keeping the beer cold in mountain streams. On visits back home to Syracuse, John enjoyed food, drinks, and music with family.

A self-taught photographer, John shared his photos and thoughts about nature, and the nature of things, online in his blog.

John was predeceased by his daughter Kimberly Harrington, his parents John and Joanne Harrington, his grandparents, and extended family.  He is survived by his wife Karen Harrington and daughter Danielle Harrington of Redmond, Washington.  Locally, he is survived by his sister Debra Merryweather of Lyncourt, brother Timothy (Julie) Harrington of Syracuse, and sister Sheila Harrington of Jamesville. Here and elsewhere, he leaves behind extended family and many friends. John Michael will be missed.
