Obituary of Mihran A. Babikian
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Mihran A. Babikian, of Syracuse, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 84. Mihran was born October 2, 1940 to Ann and Ardavast Babikian. Mihran began his career at his father’s food market, Kleen Food Meat Market and later worked at Carrier Corporation until his retirement in 2004.
Mihran was an active communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and in 2016 was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award by the Bishop. He enjoyed playing Bocce and cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Mihran was a man whose generosity knew no bounds. He would do anything for anyone--no matter how big or small the need, he was there. His cheerful spirit and smile lit up every room, leaving lasting impressions on all who had the privilege to know him. What set Mihran apart was not only his giving spirit, but also his endlessly positive outlook. No matter the circumstance, he met life with a cheerful heart, a warm smile and a sense of optimism that lifted everyone around him. He had the gift of seeing the good in people and in every situation. He used this gift to inspire hope and happiness in others.
Throughout his life, Mihran lived by values he held close: the importance of hard work, the joy of giving, and the strength of family. He didn’t just speak about these principles, he lived them. He taught his children and grandchildren not just through words, but he showed day in and day out that a meaningful life is built on love, kindness, and support for one another.
Mihran’s laughter and unwavering kindness will be missed beyond measure. But his legacy-- of love, compassion and integrity-- will live on in the hearts of those who carry his memory forward. Mihran now joins his beloved wife of 38 years, Ruth Anne Babikian.
He is survived by his sons David (Francine) and Mark (Erin); grandchildren Isabella, Drew, Katelyn, Ryan, and Ailey; sister Karen Kudarauskas; brother A. Robert Babikian; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held May 14th from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on May 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church Outreach Program.
