Obituary of Irma Marie Burkhard

Irma M. Burkhard, 96, died on Saturday at Van Duyn. A life-long resident of Syracuse, Irma lived in Lyncourt for over 50 years as a homemaker raising five children. She was born on January 19, 1914 and served on the Board of Directors of Burkhard Brothers, Inc., a machinery re-building company, of which her late husband, Carl, was the President. She was a member of St. Daniel's Roman Catholic Church and a participant in the Mary and Martha Society. Irma is predeceased by her husband Carl; daughter Sister Nancy Burkhard, grandson David Hough and 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her son Carl "Mickey" (Vi) of Vero Beach, Florida; daughters: Joan Hough of East Syracuse, Joyce Robb of Central Square, and Mary Lou Mullane of Liverpool; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held in the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse, 13206 on Wednesday, January 27, from 4:00-7:00. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 28, at 9:00am in St. Daniel's Church, Lyncourt. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations for the care of retired sisters will be gratefully accepted at the Sisters of St. Joseph Provincial House, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, New York 12110.
