Obituary of Marilyn S. Warner

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilyn S. Warner, 89, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Lyle and Mary Smithler of Cato, NY. Marilyn worked for several years at New York Telephone and then at Niagara Mohawk where she retired after many years of service. She had an engaging personality and made many life-long friends at both companies. Marilyn enjoyed travel, collecting antiques, reading, and garage sales. Marilyn was a beautiful lady who loved her family and friends. You would always be greeted with her pleasant smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a heart of gold, and was loved by all that knew her. Marilyn was predeceased by her son, Charles E. Warner, and by her brother, Carl (Bob) Smithler. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Cummings, her son, James A. Warner, both of Syracuse and her daughter-in-law Katherine Warner (late Charles) of Lakeland, FL; her grandsons, William Cummings, and Daniel Warner. She is also survived by her brothers, John Smithler of Prescott, AZ, and James (Joan) Smithler of Cato, NY; a cousin, Jeannette Smithler of Phoenix, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt. Friends may greet the family from 10-11 before the services. Our family would like to thank Hospice of CNY for their attending, caring staff and thoughtful guidance during our mother’s final months at home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
