John (Jack) Broton Sr.,88, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 . John lived in Eastwood his whole life. John retired from Carrier Air Conditioning in 1987, after 42 years of service, as a Supervisor in the customer service and distribution department. He served in WWII in the Pacific aboard the Navy’s USS DH FOX DD779 destroyer and in the Korean conflict. John was a member of over 50 years at James St. Methodist church where he was active in church social activities and served as head usher. Other organizations he was involved in was Memorial Lodge 648, Life member of Simon Parish Post VFW, Eastwood American Legion and the Tin Can Sailor organization. John loved to play golf and was a longtime member of Beaver Meadows golf course and had scored 5 holes in one. He is predeceased by his wife Lindy, son Jack, daughter Laura Broton Fountain and grandson Peter Jenda. His family includes: daughter Denise Lynn Broton of Cicero, daughter-in-law Sherry Broton of North Syracuse, brother Donald (Helen) Broton; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home Thursday from 4-7pm on with funeral services following at 7pm . Internment and chapel service to follow on Friday at St. Mary’s Mausoleum at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the CNS Girls Golf c/o Coach 8734 Riverside House Path Brewerton, NY 13029.
