Obituary of Joseph Stephen Pulaski

Joseph S. Pulaski passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit on April 2, 2016 at the age of 91. Joe proudly served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Boston. Following his military service, he married Dorothy Jane Shaffer, spending the next 58 years of his life with her until her death in 2006. Joe was employed by the Syracuse Fire Department, retiring as a Captain, after 20 years of service. Joe was an amazing golfer starting at Eastwood High School, continuing with winning multiple Syracuse Community golf tournaments, Hole-in-One competitions and he was part of the winning team that took first place in the North American Fire Fighters Masters Golf Tournament two years in a row. In retirement, Joe worked as a part-time Director of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Maintenance Team and as a pro golf teacher at Westvale Country Club. Joe is survived by his daughter Diane (Fred) Balsam, son Joseph Pulaski, sister Laura Osinski, granddaughters Tracie Adams Alexander and Hollie Adams (George) Pharaoh, great-grandson Grant Alexander and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 9 at Blessed Sacrament Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13206.
