Ralph B. Placito, Sr, 94, a beloved father, grandfather, and countryman, died peacefully at home on Monday surrounded by his family. Ralph loved his religion, family, country, traveling, music and his wonderful Italian cooking. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WWII and served in the Eastern Theater. As a Technical Sergeant, he worked as a propeller mechanic with the 510th Fighter Squadron. After his military service, he worked for Sperry-Rand in Central Islip, LI where he lived with his family. In 1965, he returned home with his family to Syracuse, where he worked for UTC for 20 years. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, going camping and his cars. His wife Madeline pre-deceased him in 2006. Mr. Placito is survived by his children: Charlotte Nelson of Syracuse, Laura Jean (Alan) Robbins of Baldwinsville, Ralph B. (Judi Dudley) Placito Jr. of East Syracuse, Anne (Ed) Dugar of Mannsville, NY; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30AM in the Blessed Sacrament Church, with burial to follow with Military Honors in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
