Obituary of Marie Connie Padden

Marie (Connie) Padden October 19, 2015 One hundred years ago Connie was born on October 25, 1915 in NYC and raised on the family farm in Chittenango, NY alongside 11 siblings. She remained close to the land and her family all of her life. Known as “The Flower Lady” for her roses and orchids, she received anonymous thank you notes for her gardens. A lover of words and humor, Connie relished books, poetry and prayer. She was a communicant of Saint Daniel’sChurch since her move to Syracuse in her late twenties. She was called “Mommy” by her adoring husband, Patrick J. Padden, Jr. who passed in 1978, “Mom” or “Maaaa” by Pamela Marchand (Tom Marchand) Pietrina Padden (Sam Drury) and Patricia Padden, (JD Single), “Grandma” by Erin, Kerry and Justin, and “Greatgramma” by Emmeline and Aiden. She was known as “Connie” by her remaining and favorite siblings, Lucy Garofalo and Dean Costanzo, and by well -loved nieces, and nephews. Her caregiver and best friend Jane, and later friends called her “Marie”. An era passes with this well-loved and loving Centenarian who has touched so many lives. A wake is to be held at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 on Friday, October 23rd at 3111 James Street. Mass will be at St. Daniel’s Church, 3004 Court St. on Saturday, October 24th at 9:00 a.m. with interment and church reception to follow.
